I just purchased a 633csi that I'm getting ready to 'resurrect' which has been sitting for a couple years. I had a couple questions:

1) Does anyone have any suggestions as far as precautions I may want to take before firing her up? I plan on changing the fluids and such, but was wondering if I should do anything special to the engine before I try to nurse it back to life.

2) The shifter bushings need to be replaced, and there is a bolt broken off on the thermostat housing...anybody have experience with areas who may be able to lend a couple suggestions?

I hope to get the car going in the next few weeks so I can start to find out what else may be wrong...for better or worse..

Thanks for your time..

I'm no expert but, here goes. You should dump the fluids, check all rubber parts, watch out for a stuck thermostat, spray a little light oil in the intake and work the motor back and fourth. remove the plugs and crank it to expell the oil. dump the fuel and change filter's add an additive and fill it up. check the rubber fuel line condition. New battery, check belts, hoses, coolant, FIRE IT UP AND SEE WHAT YOU GET!
The broken bolt: to repair or replace, The part its not too expensive. But to repair, remove it and find the bolt center and make a punch mark, drill with a variable speed job and spray a little oil to cool it, use a small bit and go slow and stay straight in the center. penetrate the bolt shank and gradually increase dia bits till it is very thin. get an easy-out and remove it. If it is too frozen ,keep drilling to the bit size just under the hole size and clean it out and re-tap threads. If you hosed it up a bit use a heli-coil or an insert. Go for it.
