Mitto, my friend from the local BMW dealership, helped me prepare my M635csi for summer. He was quite impressed at the originality underneath the hood, and the chassis. There are FOUR aftermarket exhausts rotting behind his dumpster, all at his reccomendation. Were I to add a supercharger, turbo, or racing cams, then perhaps more breathing would be needed. For now, I have all the hot air I can take... I would take insults to myself personally IF I felt that they were merited. The fact is that people waste TONS of money per year on PHONY performance upgrades that do nothing to enhance the drivability of their vehicles. I will put my M635 up against ANY M6/M635 using ONLY a K&N and Free Flow exhaust to "tune it." Find me someone who knows how to stroke an e24 motor, and ask him. Fayhey, for example. HE BUILDS MOTORS, and has a thing or two for B&B.
The Fayhey modded M6 I drove had a Single 2.5 inch tailpipe, and boasted 1/4 mile times in the mid 13's... It also had 318HP at the wheels. Total cost for exhaust=480 dollars. This included 3" piping to the back, glasspak resonator, and stainless tailpipe/muffler. It was all I needed to convince me that he knows his stuff. His cars make it into Roundel and Bimmer, just like Steve Dinan's. Let me know what page your car is on...
