Thanks to everyone's advice and a few days of garage insanity, I finally ressurected my '83 633csi which had not been started in a couple years.
My problem now is that I'm not getting any reading on the temperature gauge on the dash. I have a new temp sender in the thermostat housing (first one on the bottom of the housing, closest to the hose)...the hoses were all replaced...I've cleaned the contacts...but nothing. I've got the electrical manual but I'm new to BMW's format with all these separate manuals - great information, but I'd love to see it all put together in a more helpful troubleshooting format. Anyway...what would be some steps I could do to troubleshoot if it's the guage that isn't working...possibly even the switch (even though it is new, which would be odd)...or possibly something I'm overlooking? All my fuses look ok as well... I'm used to older project cars which don't have quite the complex electrical system, with 5 sensors for coolant temperature/senders/switches/warning lights, etc...:)
Thanks in advance for your tips!
Pete
