first thing i did when i bought my 85 635 was to install a short shifter. it made all the difference in the world. the original shifter had a lot of slop, akin to the sort of shifter one would find on a rental truck -- not good for a supposed sport coupe. the short shifter eliminated all of the slop and reduced the throw between gears. plus, it looks a heckuva lot better. i recall that parts and labor prolly cost me a couple of hundred and change.
Hi,I have a 1980 633,4 speed& the shifter has a lot of play in it.I need help? I would like any information on changing the shifter bushings.I have a 1980 528,5 speed that I'm going to swap.I'll have both transmissions out & was just wondering how hard it is to change the bushings. If anyone has any other recomendations of things to do while I have them out would be grately appreciated.Thanhs for any information.
