As you may remember, I am coming to what I thought was the final chapter of my 9 month battlt with the sunroof in my 633. So far, I have a new lid, cables (???), motor, and gasket. I first bought the lid, got it painted, then bought cables and other misc parts needed according to my first mechanic. I got an upholstery shop in town to install all of those. They came back saying the cables are in but the lid won't move (they said bad motor). Since the lid wont move, they couldn't put the inside liner back in place, this made the roof leak b/c the liner caught rain before it hit the drain. So they put a plastic sheet over it with adhesive on one side. I just got my car back from a 3rd mechanic that I got to install the motor and the new gasket. It works now, but they could not get all of the plastic off, so they cu around it (didn't damage paint). They also said they didn't think the cables were new, the lid doesn't align itself perfectly every time, and the mechanic said the "plastic piece that holds the cables to the car does not look new", while I know this came with the cables ( I bought all parts and gave them to the mechanics). So the upholstery shop screwed up 2 things, first the plastic which left that nasty glue film on my roof (btw, I asked if it would mess up the paint, he answered in a really negative tone "Do you think we would put it on if it would mess up the paint???, and now it has). And I am not sure if they cables are the new ones. The only way I know of to tell if they are new is to get a mechanic to disassemble the roof and check, which would cost tons of money. I am stuck here, I think the upholstery shop owes me money, but I have to pay money to find out. What is my recourse, I have no idea where to turn. I greatly appreciate any help.
