Hey all,
I've heard it's possible to disable the SI board rather than go to the trouble of replacing batteries; actually, the previous owner of my M635 had his SI disabled. These are idiot lights after all, I know when to change my oil and service without them. I should have asked how he disabled the SI on my M635, because now the lights on my 635 don't go out on ignition (indicative of SI battery failure I believe), and I'd like to disable these lights too.
Has anyone ever heard of disabling SI equipment? Cautions on disabling this equipment? How about just killing the damn lights, so they can't come on if they wanted to? Again, cautions?
I suppose I could just replace the batteries....but then I know I'll replace them again sometime after this new set dies. Tips on replacing the batteries if I decide to go that way?
I'd appreciate any and all advice you may have, it's nice to see lots of followups from others here.
Thanks in advance to all,
James

On the pre-85 boards I just removed the entire SI board with lights attached from the rest of the cluster. It just unplugs.

Worked fine. If you have the board with the Lithium batteries, I'm not sure how it would work out.
