Can't remember if the '86 uses electronic or hydraulic control; however, if it's electronic & restarting the car a few times changes the problem, I'd seriously look at the tranny ECU. I beleive it's mounted behind the driver's side kick panel. If there are any socket mounted chips, it's worth a try to re-seat them & also re-seat the connectors...


my reverse goes out in my automatic '86 635. When
I turn the car off it usually works again but
sometimes it takes 4 or 5 times. What gives?
