The self leveling suspension is crap, and in my opinion dangerous! The SLS was designed for maintaining proper ride height when two adults were stuffed in the back seats. How often do you do that? If never then junk that SLS. It will shed some weight too.

I recently bought an 88 M6. It has SLS. It is awful!! My 635 out handles it 10 to 1.

I installed Eibachs and Bilsteins on my 88 635. This mod made it a totally different car. I can go into turns fearlessly! Much safer; much crisper turn in. No bad manners. The ride quality changes very little.

Dinan, AC Shnitzer, IMO is expensive. Turners Motorsports, BMP, and HMS offer spring/shock combination packages for less$$. BMP Design has a H&R/Bilstein/SLS conversion package for $800.00
I intend to use this package on my M6. (Eibachs are good too though)

The M6 sway bars are very good, no need to replace them.

A note of caution: installing lowering springs does require you to install Bilstein Sports (or similar sport shocks.) Heavy duty are not recommended as they will bottom out. The sports have a shorter shaft to accomodate the 1.25 inch. drop.

Secondly, you will need to get different spring cups when changing from SLS to a lowering spring.

If you do it yourself, BEWARE, the SLS hydraulic system is under HIGH pressure. Refer to a manual before removing!!!!!
