you guys are a great asset thanks abunch for your
wise wisdom and knowledge. I am so glad there is a page like this...WHO CAN GO WRONG WITH A BIMMER???

So you got it running....what was the problem with it not starting? As far as the rough idle goes....it may be tied in with it not wanting to start....ie your air flow meter may be out of adjustment, dirty or going bad...could be bad gas, something electrical...really need to go through the various systems and see what the problem is...if you can't do it...take it to a reputable mechanic that has some diagnostic equipment. As far as the oil problem...I agree with Justin..it could be the oil cap...but with the rough idle and the smoke..it could also be a blown head gasket...mine leaked at the rear on the passenger side when it went...did you run it hot or out of oil? How long has it been since the car ran....? There are many variables and unknowns and these are some thoughts for you....
Good luck and I hope it isn't anything serious.
