Sounds like the story of a car-repair newbie: "finish" a job and find yourself left with some spare parts after reassembly!
Yesterday I replaced the ext. door handle in my '81 CSi, it was surprisingly easy (thanks Todd). Misteryously after I finished everyting I found an S-shaped piece of metal, about 1/2 in. wide and 7 in. long and two hard rubber disks about 3/4 in. diameter with a hole in one side inside the door. Since the power window, lock, door stop and everything worked I took it out and finished the job. What the hell were those items supposed to do?
