The door brake is the part that 'brakes' the door when it is halfway open, correct? That works all right, and I guess the (visible) part which is 'responsible' for that is brass colour?

The part I found is about the same color as the hidden interior of the door. Since I didn't remove all of the plastic sealing the door I haven't seen the whole door brake. You guess the part in question was replaced and the mechanic forgot to take the broken off bit out of the car?
