I would definitely NOT transplant. The resale value will not warrant that work IMO.

To keep and fix, or to buy another car. That's always a dilemna.

You will have 2 or 3 options:
1.the insurance company will total it and buy you out. They will be reluctant to give you full value, provide them with as many M6 sales as you can find. Most likely they will try to value it as a regular 6er. Make sure that they give you enough money that will allow you to buy another, better, M6.
2. the insurance will repair the car for you, paying the shop directly (possibly the best option.)
3. they will give you money to fix it (could work out well if you're agressive and receive a good settlement, and subsequently how well you manage the repair bill.) Get many estimates. Even if you have to rent trailer and drag it around to body shops. Go to the best frame and body shops in town. See what they say, get a complete written estimate from everyone!

In the latter case Nick R's advice is good. That will save you a good deal of money. I did the same thing when I crashed my Nissan truck. Just make sure to go to a shop that will work with you and do a good job. If done right it will be better than it was before the crash: new paint, replacement of marginal parts.
It's gonna cost ya though! Belly up to the bar and order em'up.

A last word: If you are planning on keeping and fixing the car avoid getting the car totalled out. When a car has been bought back after it has been totalled, some states (Calif for sure), will issue a salvage title on the car. This will lower the resale value DRASTICALLY! You must consider that in your financial analysis.

BTW--how wide are the rear wheels on your 80 Euro? What size tires?
They look great!
