What would happen if I put a regular Gertrag 265 transmission (not the close ratio Sport model) in an '87 M6? I've got a bad tranny in my M and I'm on a budget. If I pull the transmission my options are:

Rebuild the Gertrag 280 that's in car ($600.00 - $1200.00 for bearings, seals and synchros).

Buy a used Gertrag 265 off of a 535 (40,000 miles and $500.00 at the junkyard).

Look for a used Gertrag Sport ($??? and hard to find).

Buy rebuilt Gertrag 280 ($2300.00)

Buy new Gertrag Sport Ultimate Transmission ($3200.00)

Anybody have experience with a 265 in an //M? I'd love to buy the Ultimate Transmission, but would probably have to get divorced to do so. What to do...what to do...
