I just recently bought an 84 633, and the driver's seat only reclines 1/2 of the seat, while the other half stays where it is, thus twisting the seat back. Rather than do the "twist and shout" as I try to figure out what's going on and how to fix it, I was hoping someone might be able to tell me how to fix this (from what I understand, I'm not the first person who's encountered this before). Also, how do I repair the padding so I don't feel as much of the springs underneath (the old padding's a little worn).
Seems like this is the only flaw with the car, please help me to make it perfect.
Thanks in advance,
James

1)Remove seat.
2)Remove one end of inop cable from either motor or gearbox
3)If inner cable is NOT broken,
Slide jacket off of cable
4)Cut off jacket flush where it enters metal ferrule
5)Hold ferrule with pliers and heat gently with propane torch.
6)With piece of wire, fish jacket out of metal ferrule (don't heat the ferrule too hot or the plastic becomes liquid)
7)Heat ferrule slightly again and put it over the cable jacket and twist 1/4 turn as it goes on (this reinstalls ferrule on shortened jacket)
8)Replace jacket over cable core
9)Replace cable end into whatever you took it out of (motor or gearbox).
It's easier than it sounds and makes the cable good-as-new for $NOTHING.
