God forbid that WE decide what we want to own, rather than conforming to a company's attemts to strongarm people into buying newer vehicles! If I had my way, I would see to it that EVERY part of the E24 were made available to consumers. These are REAL BMWs, the kind that were made prior to Clintonomics. They were built in Germany, by REAL engineers, who were asked to produce a work of motoring art, rather than a Piggy-Bank-on-wheels.
The sad truth is, if BMW wished to do so, they could make parts like these from thier ORIGINAL molds/dies, etc. The cash outlay to refurbish an E24 completely has become phenominal! One day, however, the 14 year patent laws will be Grandpa'd OUT, and persons like MYSELF, true BMW enthusiasts, will lurch forward from the darkness, reclaiming our right to free enterprise!
My BMW was assembled at the M factory, by people who's only goal was to produce a fast, beautiful sportscar, with phenominal handling. Their bosses f*@ked-up when they decided that BMWs should be available to peons like the one who posted above (about having me jailed).
If I had MY way, guys like yourself would be confined to labor at Burger King--on the fry vat and grill--and I'd have the air conditioning removed in the kitchen (not to punish you, of course, just to save costs; you understand--bottom line).
As for those who supported me throughout my venture, including the few lucky people who got parts BEFORE I was chastised by Big Brother, thank you all whole-heartedly.
The bottom line is: THERE IS ONLY SO FAR THAT GREED CAN TAKE MANKIND BEFORE WE DEFEAT EVEN GREED'S PURPOSE. BMW was once an elite brand, vehicles which were crafted for but ONE purpose--DRIVING ENJOYMENT. It has now become as popular in the American driveway as the Mustang.
I'll stick to REAL BMWs, such as the M5, M6, and the E30 M3. And YES, my car is riddled with parts which I built for it, and will one day build again, shoud I find even the smallest loophole!!! (OOOh, I bet that will get me in some trouble! A conspiracy!!!)
