I think my alternator is about to go by the sounds of the bearings. It has always seemed not too solid on the bracket - is this one of the cars shortcomings? Is there a bracket that should be replaced with the alternator or do you make a custom bracket to assist in holding the alternator from twisting when the engine is reved?

Also looking for an '84 633 owners manual for some reason I bought mine with an '85 635 manual. If anyone has an extra or would know where I could find one - it would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Nick

I went through this just last week. You need to replace the upper and lower rubber bushes. The get oil contaminated after a period of time which makes the alternator SOFT on its mounts. After re -mounting it make sure you reconnect the earth strap solidly. If it looks a bit sad, replace it because it is your ONLY earthing point.
Hope this helps.
