I hate to be a merchant of doom, but this really doesn't sound right. I get stuck in a traffic jam every day and my and I've never noticed any heat coming from my tranny. If it were me I would start to look for why it's getting so hot. Obviously check fluid level and type, connections to radiator and that you have flow through it. Maybe a dragging brake? Idle speed too high and you hold it on the brakes a lot? Worst of all would be the tranny on the way out. The heat is generated by absorbing engine power somehow - have you noticed a drop-off in performance?John Millward
I have alot of heat coming through the center console where the shifter and window switches are mounted. It get so hot at times that it is uncomfortable to touch the window switches. I had the car on a lift today and did not see where I was missing a heat shield. Did I miss something? More importantly - how do I fix it!
Thanks again
Johnny
