Put 82 633 manual into 85 635? Pro or Con (archive)

Got some tough decisions to make wrecked my 82 633csi front end pretty bad. I have a ported and polished cyl head with Shrick 284 mild cam/springs thru a 5 spd man. I have the opportunity to get an 85 635 automatic relatively cheap and am thinking about the possibility of "upgrading" to the manual shifter from that car. Is this do-able/advisable?
