Thanks for the comment. I had this problem in my '90 535 after getting the tranny replaced. I'll replace the rubber boot and post the results.

I had this happen on my 635. Replace the rubber boot around the shifter. You'll have to see a parts diagram to get an idea of where it fits.

I have alot of heat coming through the center console where the shifter and window switches are mounted. It get so hot at times that it is uncomfortable to touch the window switches. I had the car on a lift today and did not see where I was missing a heat shield. Did I miss something? More importantly - how do I fix it!
