Look carefully for rust. The Euro cars seem more prone to this than US versions. I am not sure if it was exposure to road salt in Germany, or different rustproofing on these cars. I've even seen the sun roofs rusted out from the inside! Check the front wheel weel houses topside between the strut towers and the fender seams.

Goody! This week I will be going to upstate NY with my roomate and will take a run in a 1980 Euroversion 635Csi. I'm prepared to love it, it sounds like a really neat car! If I were to buy it I'd need to fix up the seats (or replace them - a pair of $900 Koenig seats in NJ look mighty tasty) update the tie rods, touch up a bit of rust on the front left wheel well, and get the AC replaced.
