I have a 4:10 LSD from a 325i 1987. After changing the back plate, will it bolt in a 85 coupe? Calvin

CALVIN...
A 1987 325i SHOULD NOT have a 4.10 ratio in it.Maybe in a 325IX.The '87 should have a 3.73 ratio, open or LSD.If you're sure it's a 4.10,it's a bit too low for the e24 or e28,although it WILL fit if you change the back and side plates.Your gears will be too short, and highway rpms too high.
Try for a 3.73 ratio, which adds 25% more power than your stock ratio, but leaves a decent length to the gears and not so high an rpm count at normal highway speeds.
e-30 325 auto had 4.10 diff 325ixs with autos
