Fuel gauges - 84 633CSi - Help?! (archive)

Hey everyone,

One last gremlin to snuff on my 84 633, and this one's a fuel gauge that reads rather high all the time. It says I've got better than 3/4 after 175 miles since my last fill-up (as of today), and when I shut down the car, it goes to about 1/2 (where I think it should be) for a very brief moment. Also, the MPG gauge under the tach swings, but is incorrect also. SI board and batteries are recent, and I just reset the thing after an oil change with no problems. The range and avg MPG functions on the OBC seem to work fine though.

Could this be a poor connection at the cluster? I know the OBC's range function can fall out of calibration if the tank isn't ran nearly empty - does the same apply for fuel gauges and MPG gauges?
What should I try first - and if that doesn't work, what should I do next?

Thanks to everyone on the board - I'll post a pic of this beauty when I get this one solved. She'll be perfect then...nahh, there's always something to tinker with! :)

Thanks again,
James
