I have also changed thermostat, fully flushed system, replaced heater control valve, repaired all leaks, and replaced the main fan clutch.

Sounds like yours is pretty normal to me. Quick check might be to let idle to warm up to full temp, and gently remove cap to make sure system is pressurizing correctly. I don't think I was getting to full temp due to leaking cap.

Cheers!

Hello all,
Had a problem with my temp gauge reading when I purchased my 86 M635. It always read in the blue, so I changed the thermostat. It now only reads about an 1/8 of an inch beyond the blue. I get plenty of hot air from the heater, and the engine appears to be heating up properly. (Havent stuck a thermometer in it yet) All of my other Bimmers (E30, E21, E24) and most other vehicles have always run about the midway point. Maybe I have a bad sending unit? So where does everybody elses M635/M6 temp gauge read at normal operating temp?
