The PO had over filled the power steering fluid, he supposed to pump the brake pedal with the engine off (just like you did) to empty out the fluid in the accumulator before fill up.

I just bought an '89 635 a week ago. If I pump the brakes with the engine off, ATF fluid starts pouring out of the top of the power steering fluid tank. It doesn't seem to be from the seal ring but the very top. Anybody had this happen? No leaks when the engine's on. Thanks.
