Any reason a 540i motor won't fit into an '86 6? (archive)

I ave a buddy who wishes to install a 540i ('93) motor into an '86 635csi. Is there any reason the motor would not squeeze in there? I assume there are similar motor mounts, as the 535i shared the 3.5 inline six that the 88/89 635csi used?
