I paid $12,800 fourteen months ago for my 89 L6 but it had a newly BMW-rebuilt transmission and lots of recent bushings, motor mounts, etc. Its black on black, but it has no sign of rust or accidents, and 6s with no rust seem to be getting fewer and fewer. I paid what I think was top dollar, but there is an 89 635 advertised in Tucson for $16,000. Been advertised for a while now....

10-12K is probably a fair price IF everything is O.K. Buying from a knowledgeable owner is the best way to go and go slowly. A well cared for six is a joy to have and hold.

Check the tranny out carefully as they have a tendency to break if not well cared for. Use the TRX's as a negotiating point as you will need to replace wheels and tires as soon as the present tires wear out. TRX's are poor by today's standards and getting difficult and expensive to replace. Figure $1K for wheels and tires low end.

Good Luck,

Bob Duckworth
