With a chip DESIGNED for the cam gear, the Dinan kit goes a step beyond simply dropping the new gear in.
If the above post from ///M blitz is correct, then why is a gear available for a Euro model, which is not restricted to US emissions? Also, why would BMW Motorsport set the timing the way they did originally, when thier first plan was to race the motors? Retarding the exhaust cam gear is a questionable upgrade. Sorry ///M blitz, but I must remain on my side of the fence on this one.
I did notice an ADJUSTABLE cam gear offered by BMP. Korman and Steve Dinan also offer pre-set ones. I simply feel that my car is amply powered already, and that an engineer named Hans knows more about a Bimmer than one named Steve.
My Euro 6 still does the factory spec'd 158. That's plenty fast for me. People will tell you what you want to hear when selling auto parts. If you MUST use a cam gear, have a torque curve fasxed to you comparing the before/after without software upgrades. Ask for one just using a chip, as well. Last, you will want to see the end result of both products. Compare the setups, and choose the right one for your preferences. Unless your M6 is really old, I can't see wanting much more from the already amazing motor!!! You could always go with a Euro exhaust, eliminating the cats (sorry tree-huggers).
