When I first bought my '85 ///M635csi, I thought, "What a great riding car!" I recently decided to upgrade the car even further by installing an H&R/Bilstein setup from BMP. I also installed new urethane control arm bushings, which I got from BMP, too. They are beefy, and seem much more solid than the Bimmer 750 bushes. I replaced all mounts and bearings in the shock towers, as they were shot**. Finally, I added a BMP strut tower brace to finish the package. Since the M635csi rides .4 inches lower already, my ride height was only decreased by about .85" front and rear. The difference is noticable, but not TOO low. Regular 6 car owners can expect about a 1.25" drop, which will leave it sitting the same, with a very slight gap above the tires. As nice as the car looked when I picked it up, I wasted no time hopping into it for a test drive. WOW! Tha car feels brand spanking new, tighter than a 97 850csi. It will outcorner anything I have ever driven! I have had several Bimmers, and this setup is FANTASTIC! I have been grinning since I git her back, and I have gone for about fifteen joy rides in the past 2 days!!!
I can say this much about the Bilstein Sport/H&R setup from BMP, "IT F*KIN' RULES!" Ther is none of the "harshness" I expected, even running 18 inch rims. With 17", it feels like butter! Just for kicks, I took a long, drawn-out s turn under heavy acceleration. The car stuck like glue. Rounding sharp curves is very predictable, and I can now pull-out of the turns much quicker. On the straightaways, the car stays almost flat under full-throttle acceleration! My 0-60 times have increased, and high-end handling is awesome!
**EURO M6 owners, NOTE: If you order a set from BMP, get new strut bearings, new rear shock mounts, and YOU MUST ORDER THE RUBBER SPRING SEATS FOR A US MODEL 6 series! The M635csi rear springs are a larger diameter than the H&R. The stock euro rubber pads will not properly seat the spring. I am currnetly driving the car with the rear springs sitting on rubber pads, but I have the correct parts on order ASAP style.

Did you do anything with the sway bars? What wheels and tires are you running?
