FYI....Safety alert! BBS RS 3 piece rim (archive)

Hi everyone....I have a 15 year old set of the discontinued BBS RS 3 piece rims. Yesterday, after losing air pressure after a short drive, I dismounted the tire to check for a pucture. What I found was a 1 inch crack on the edge of the rim where the tire and the rim seat together which caused the air leak. I mentioned what I had found to Bob over on Nantucket. He said that BBS had a recall on these some years ago because of this problem. I think I remember hitting a deep pot hole in the road some time ago,which could have caused the damage. Anyway , thought I would pass this on to the group as a FYI safety alert for those that have these rims....you may want to inspect yours....if in fact there was a problem with them cracking. I'm just thankful that something bad didn't happen to me at speed on the road! Seasons Greetings and Merry Christmas from Cape Cod!
