I was hit with bad Amoco in the summer of 1998. Yes they love to use BMWs in advertizing. It was so bad that after about 12 miles it would not restart. My car is an 86/635 it had a 5mm hex drain plug on the right hand outboard side of the fuel tank. If I were doing it I would jack the car up on the left side and give it a while to settle then remove the tank plug over an approiate container to catch a sample. I would then remove the filter and catch the back drain also for a sample in a closed container. The gas in mine looked like dirty pond water. If you are not equiped or versed in handeling gasoline take it to a shop! If you have dirty gas, some very fine dirt may get to the injectors which can wreck them or you will at least need to flush the system. If you have damage you can make a claim for compensation which is eaiser if you have a shop do the work. If you want more info just email.
good luck,
Charles
