ese are mechanical lifters you are going to have some lash noise. If they are set too tight then you can burn valves and spend lots of money.

What is the proper valve lash on a 87 635csi (M30) when the engine is cold?????
Bentley says .30mm, however when i took the valve cover off i noticed that the valves were adjusted around .25 -.27mm.

I am adjusting them becuse i could hear the valves ticking while running.. Now when readjusted to .30 the motor sounds even worse.. Ticking like a diesel!

Should i go back and reajust them to .25 or is it normal for this engine to make so much noise??????

all help appreciated

thanks
