They (supplier and manufacturer)say it's safe and effective, and lots of techs swear by it, but you should definately follow the manual exactly if in doubt.

Therefore, do NOT use this product or any other product in the fuel or the oil. To clean the valves, remove the head, disassemble it, and clean the valves with a wire brush.

Replace all seals and gaskets, and reassemble.

Figure about $800 or so for this procedure, but at least you conformed to BMW recomendations.

What about the fact that BMW insists on not adding any type of additive to fuel, oil or anything. Bentley's says that injection clear can ruin the oxygen sensor...

it can accumulate. Lots of folks swear by "Lubro Moly" product called "Ventil Sauber" intake vale cleaner. Avail from BMP or Bavarian.

How sensible the 3.5 l engine is to carbon deposit over the intake valves? Anybody actually look at a say 100k miles head?

Few years ago, I was shocked by how much have accumulated in my VW valves.
How effective are chemicals in removing these?
