The temp gauge which has never had a problem goes all the way to the left and I lose power...then it goes back to normal and the car runs fine. This seems to happen for a few minutes, then the car runs fine. I've been driving in some very cold weather lately, and this is one of the warmer days, so I'm surprised this is happening now. The whole time this is happening, the car is jerking around. I can keep the car running, but it keeps cutting out like there is some electrical connection that has been affected. (It doesn't seem like a cold start valve...but it is definitely tied into the temp sender gauge), because when that moves quickly, the car stumbles.
Also, I tried to start the car and am just getting a whirling sound, it doesn't actually turn over the engine.
I don't know if these are related or not. Any ideas??

Also, open your glove box. Hopefully, you will not find a puddle of water in there. If so, it means that you have a leak in your windshield gasket and likely hosed the ECU when washing. If you think this is possibly the case, carefully pull the box, open it and dry it very, very carefully. If Lady Luck smiles on you , you may get away with one ECU wash without harm.
Good Luck,
