I'm guessing here but I seem to remember talk of a centre tap on ther battery pack. The general consensus was that it didn't do anything and so could be ignored - yours might be the exception that proves the rule. (Check the archives)

Failing that try reducing the voltage a bit by discharging the batteries. A freshly charged new NiCad can be over 1.5V whereas the 'official' voltage is 1.2 per cell.

OK guru's! I need some wisdom again!

Last weekend I pulled the instrument panel in my '85 CSI. (1) Replaced a bulb on the "PRNDL21" display, and (2)desoldered the dead NiCad batteries, and soldered in wires leading to new AA battery holders and new NiCad's (charged before putting them in).

Got it back together today, and upon starting, all looks well EXCEPT the "Washer Fluid" and "Oil Level" check lights are on. After it runs about 45 seconds, the "Coolant Level" light comes on also. (I've checked: All of these are ok.)

I haven't got the inspection light reset yet, so that is also on.

Any ideas on what I did (or didn't) do?

Any thoughts will be GREATLY appreciated!!
-John
