I have a set of BBS RS-211 16x8's (et10) with Dunlop SP8000's, 225/50ZR16s, and they fit great, with no rubbing at all. If the offset of the 740 wheels is greater then 10, then you might have to go with spacers.

I recently purchased a set of 740i 16x8 cross spoke rims and am now looking at tire selection. I own an '87 L6 with a slightly lowered suspension. In reading from this forum and BCG, I gather that Dunlop SP8000 seem to be a popular choice due to performance and price. I am also leaning this way. For those that have 16x8 rims on their 6er what tire did you go with and what size did you buy? Also, did you have to use spacers in front and if so, what size did you install? Besides the potential of rubbing on the strut tower, did you encouter any rubbing on the fender while turning?
Thanks all for your help!
