The sporty end of the BMW model program will soon be marked by the all-new 6-series coupé and cabrio which are going to replace the current unsuccessful 8-series in 2002. Basing on the chassis of the up-coming 5-series (the 8-series is basing on the 7-series), the new cars will be better proportioned with sophisticated handling and superb design. Aggressive yet elegant, typical BMW yet completely new - a 2+2-seater playing in the league of Ferrari 456 and Maserati 3200 GT at probably half the price. The design of the new 6-series will be reminiscence to the old 6-series (built until 1988) and will be dominated by huge 18"-wheels, a long bonnet, the interesting layout of the headlights and flashers and the additional air-intakes in the car's front wings. Engine range will start with the 3.5-litre V8 producing 235 HP followed by the 4.4-litre V8 with 286 HP. The 650 with 326 HP will be available, too, and the M-Company is certainly already waiting to transform the car into an M6 with the brand-new M5's mega-power engine.
