That's the same experience I had, from my mirror I watched the Ford Econoline van come towards me at 55-60mph (estimated by CA Highway Patrol) after I was stopped in traffic on the freeway. The guy was drunk, on dissability, had no insurance, and now pays me $50.00/mo until 2012- as assigned by the court. I don't believe he ever took his foot off the gas, he wrecked 3 cars in a line (+ his own van), all of which were stopped with brakes on. I'll have to post some photos some time.

I was very fortunate to be driving my 633 when I got into that accident. Can you believe it, I was at a complete stop in traffic and got rear-ended. The idiot was putting out his cigarette and hit me @ 35mph. The worst part was that I could see it coming and had cars to my right, oncoming traffic to my left and nowhere to go. Just had to sit there and cringe. I keep thinking what would have happened to me if I was still driving my Corvette.

Just as your 633 saved yours, my 81 Euro saved my life. If I was driving a comparably priced, and therefore much newer: Honda, Toyota, etc, I would not be able to walk today. True story. Additionally, I unfortunately saw a red 1988 6'er race-prepared monster save it's driver 2 weeks ago at Sears Point when it hit the wall backwards before turn 11.

I miss my silverExt/blueInt, non-sunroof restored perfect car every day. It's been 7 years now.

It was love at first sight. I first saw the 6 series when I was a young lad in 7th grade. It was then that I vowed to myself that I would buy one when I graduated from college. Until then I would have to entertain myself with an assortment of Mustangs, Camaros and Corvettes. When I did graduate from college, the 6er was still out of my price range so I bought a 528e that was lowered and had other suspension mods. It was a blast to drive w/ the 5 spd. I even pegged the needle past 85 to the 6 o'clock position. I kept this through grad school and did buy my '81
633csi upon graduation. She was a beauty, but lasted only a year or so until I got severely rear ended. My baby gave her life to save mine. In the intervening 10 years I sold my trusty 528e and went through 3 Mercedes (still have 2 of 'em) and my 750il (still have this beast of a money pit). I acquired my euro 635 in 1999 and she's been with me ever since. She's a blast to drive w/ the euro spec motor, CR 5 spd, exhaust and full suspension mods. Ahhh, love@every glance.
