Hi gang.
I'm hoping for some insight from you all. Tonight my M6 died on the freeway...just a sudden loss of power, followed shortly by the engine dying. After having the car towed home, i tried starting it again just for kicks. The car immediately started and idled normally. The car had run just fine up until the moment it died, no clues of any kind. Is it the ECU? Any and all comments and/or experiences are appreciated.I have had same problems with my M6. I have also fixed a number of guys cars with the same problem. If there is no spark and you have verified that the relay is OK, My bet is that in the ECU the power transistor that drives the coil has broken solder joints. Again, this is a VERY common problem!! It is easily repaired but you must have some electronic knowledge, at least how to carefully remove the PCBs from the case and re-solder the leads of the power trainsistor to the PCB. If you are in or near the SF Bay area, I would be glad to do it for you. Email me if you have further questions.
Regards,
Ed
