I was wondering what the best kind of place would be to have the wheels refinished. Can just a good quality body shop do it? I just bought an '87 with chrome wheels, and want them refinished in the more common silver alloy color. Thanks for any help.

Drew

drew i hade had 10 or 12 sets of various wheels redone, restored or repaired, take them to a wheel refinisher, not a body shop.

the're are shops that just work on wheels, i can tell you a great place (skipps wheel works (503) 641-8001)they are in portland, oregon. honest, a father, son and mother operation.they work on all type of exotic stuff and my every day stuff.

at least call to see what there ideas are on your problem. ask for skip, tell him ken the eve guy refered you (i am his eye dr.)

he may give you info that will change your mind about how to fix your problem.

chromed alloy wheels are micky mouse on most performance cars (they belong on cads), polished, machined, painted or some combination is the ticket
