this is my first response so i'm hoping it works. my son's 88 635 Csi went into limphome mode once and stayed in 2nd. took it to a good foreighn car repair shop and found that contacts on electrical plug on side of trans had corroded contacts. you can't imagine how relieved he was.hoping this info is helpfulto someone in the future.
