Fixed my electric head rest problem over the weekend and would like to share the experience. I followed the instructions from this board ie. install a ½ inch piece of coat hanger into the motor to extend the drive shaft however the drive shaft was still too short to properly engage at both ends. I ended up shortening the drive shaft sheath to make the effective length of the drive shaft longer. Heres what I did. I pulled out the drive shaft and then the little green plastic centering piece inside the steel end of the drive shaft sheath. I then plugged the centre of the sheath with a rubber stop to prevent files from falling into the sheath and then filed ¼ inch from the metal sheath end. I then filed down the green plastic centering piece to match. Remove rubber stop and re-install the drive shaft. You have effectively made the drive shaft ¼ inch longer. Follow the rest of the usual instructions and reassemble. Fairly easy fix.
