I would really watch the front strut towers and spring perch. I just went through this today. I have a set of 16" 740 wheels on my 633. Did not need any hub spacer. I could only put a 225/50-16 on the front without rubbing. I landed up using a Michilen pilot XGT H4 225/50-16. These are great tires, I have them on our 95 540 sport and our 2000 328 sport. Call tire rack and they will be most happy to supply you with the info in regard to the fitment of that wheel on your 6. Also you can use this guide. Most 6's start out with a 205-70/14, to go to a 17" wheel you need to lower you aspect ratio 3 steps to a 40 or 45 series. Also you can wided the same amount of steps, from a 205 to a 235. You also want to be sure you don't get a tire taller than 25" or it will rub the spring purch. This is all fresh in my mind as I just did all this today. Enough said, enjoy your new wheels and tires. :) Will Styling 32 wheels from a '99 540I (17x8 with 235/45/17 tires in front and 17x9 with 255/40/17 tires in rear) fit on my '88 635CSi? Will I need hubcentric spacers? Thnaks for any help.
