I used to live 10 minutes from BMW NA, and I used to see the same to guys test driving all the new cars. I saw a new M5 6 months before it came out, same with the new M3, X5, E46, etc, etc. Oddly enough the cars that they are driving around look a little like the new car coming out, but there are some serious differences, like the M5. The one I saw looked like a 540i except for the quad tail pipes. It had no badging, etc.. I really hope that BMW has not committed to that ugly look piece. Anyway, just thought I would add my 2 cents.

How could that be a proto? Its coming out in Sept... I really dont think bmw would be so last minute. Its not a mule, you can see that there are no 'old' bmw 7 under that skin... The headlights will look like that, the new 7 is suppose to have those 'upside down' headlights that mimic the Z9
