I take it from your HP list at your URL that the USA M6 was detuned alot from the M6's the are running around here in Australia. These ones have 286hp stock. My 635 has 218 stock but will soon have around 250 -260hp when i stroke it to 3.7 litres. By the way we never actually had the M6 sold in Australia new and only about 400 6ers were sold here. All the rest are private imports.

Because of U.S. smog laws M6's here lost 30hp. The catalytic converter accounts for some, but most of the difference is in "softer" cams for the U.S. S88 spec engine versus the Euro M88 spec engine.

BMW made up some of the low end difference by fitting a 3.91 final drive ratio on U.S cars versus the Euro 3.71, but of course the top speed dropped about 6 mph or so.
