How do I determine if the shock mounts need replacing? A squeaking noise developed in the rear upper shock mount. I removed the passenger rear seat and poked through the tar paper so that the mount was visible from the rear view so I could see and hear what was up while driving. I noticed that in addition to the squeak the shock moved up and down too. All bolts are tight. Should there be travel? How much travel is too much? To alleviate the sound, I sprayed some silicone lubricant on it. Thanks in advance.

If teh mileage is north of 75K, it probably needs to be replaced.

Good Luck,
