I looked through one of my BMW historical books and could only find that DIXI was the name of a car maker prior to being BMW's first model. Its Austin seven based mechanicals, but I couldn't find what the name is from. I give up, what is it?

i>Well...."Dixi" is Latin for "I have spoken" and foreshadowed the manufacturer's perennial claim to be offering 'the last word' in cars. As in....'The Ultimate Driving Machine'. The Dixi was first shown in 1904 and was produced at the Eisenach factory before its products bore the BMW name....but it was here that the reputation of BMW cars was forged. Just a little BMW trivia.
