'87 M6. Recommended transmission fluid is D4ATF. What would happen if I put Redline MTL in instead of Redline D4ATF?

If you are lucky it will shift more smoothly when cold and you won't have any problems. If you are not lucky the thinner Redline will leak past the main rear seal and you will trash your gearbox within about two months. Dealer now recommends the Mobil SHC 600. You can get it from John Roberts. Takes two bottles. It's is probably a good idea to change that differential oil too.
