I had the valves on car adjusted yesterday as they were quite noisy, and have never did this in the 1 1/2 years I have owned the car. I know the PO didn't do this religiously every year. A couple cam lobes not perfect. Valves adjusted a tad tighter than spec, car no longer sounds like a diesel. AFM adjusted at hex bolt to smooth idle. Nothing. I turned it both ways several times. Now, the car idles even rougher than before valves adjusted. However, if you use your finger to open the air flap in the AFM, the idles does smooth considerably.
The car now rocks and rolls. The ICV and TPS sensors were changed when I bought the car. Bosch Platinum plugs (i know use silvers), ignition system recently new. What more can I do? Is the cam doing this? The car is also missing at both idle and engine speeds, and sounds horrible at tailpipe and some backfiring between shifts. Also, now I have to crank it 3 times before she starts.
What the hell did I do? Any imput would be greatly appreciated. I have been battling this for two straight days. I love my 6 to death, but this idle is intollerable. I know these cars didn't idle perfectly, but this is too much. Cotemplating selling it, but really don't want to.
Thanks,
Rob
