Will the stock M5 basketweave 16x7.5 fit 88 M6 ? there is a pair on ebay I'm thinking of bidding on to convert from my existing stock metrics for when my rubber wears out. Was thinking of getting my existing rechromed & painted but seems the tires are hard to get so I'd like to do the same to these if they will fit.

TRXs are available at COSTCO, TIRERACK.com, and TIRES2U.com for about $200 each. The new TRXGT is much improved over the TRX however problably still only a "good" not great tire.

The 16X7.5s should work. Also 740 BBS 16" and the 535 BBS 15"

Not sure how much different a true 16" wheel and tire will make to the speedo and computer. May not be noticable. You might be able to change the speedo gear and get a correct reading.
