I would agree with Bob's comments. I have a 152k mile Euro M6 with documented history. Average mileage between oil changes was abot 4800miles i.e. not alot. However the previous owners did not do the timing chain at 100k miles as recommended. The engine was rebuilt at 75k miles by one owner even though there was no fault. This cost £3000 but only parts like bearings gaskets, two inlet valves, timing chain guide, piston rings etc were changed. No crank regrind or rebore was needed. I have done the timing chain, guides all sprockets etc for peace of mind. This chain was in a poor state. This cost £1300 fitted.
I expect the engine to last to 200k miles minimum but I only do 3k miles a year on a classic policy.
Best to get a compression test done and have some one look at the timing end for wear.
If the price is right and the engine good then go for it.
Best of luck
Ian
I am in the market for a fine example of the 6 mark, I have located a M6 with 133000 miles on it that fits the bill however having only experienced a 633 with a 50000 mile ( which I lost to a curb) engine gives me concern. Am I getting into a car that is going to eat me alive, it will be a garage queen not a daily driver. Just how much attention do the Ms take over the 633 & 635.
Should I look for a 635 instead?
